Minister Smith calls on farmers to focus on safety

Today marks the beginning of European Safety Week and the Minister for Agriculture Brendan Smith is calling on everyone in the farming sector to prioritise health and safety.

Today marks the beginning of European Safety Week and the Minister for Agriculture Brendan Smith is calling on everyone in the farming sector to prioritise health and safety.

So far, 23 people have lost theirs lives in farm related activities this year. The number equates to round 60% of the total workplace fatalities for all sectors.

Minister Smith is urging farmers to take the time to assess all the risks involved with their day-to-day work and to plan health and safety into their work routine.
