Soccer: Hughes disappointed with draw in Armenia

Wales earned a 2-2 draw in Yerevan with two goals from John Hartson but the World Cup hopes of manager Mark Hughes were left severely dented.

Artak Minasyan and Andrey Movsisyan got the goals which left Hughes an unhappy man as his players failed to make the most of having a one man advantage after Armenia had a player sent off.

"I have a bunch of players now who are very disappointed not to have won this one," said Hughes.

Hartson had netted twice but it proved to be not enough to earn Hughes' team a much needed victory.

"We have scored twice away from home and that should be enough to win the match.

"But the goals we have conceded are bad ones for us. If you give players at this level opportunities like we did, then they will punish you."

But Hughes knows that his side will face a stiff examination when they take on the Ukraine in the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff in midweek.

"This has now set us up for Wednesday," said Hughes.

The Wales manager has called for his players to approach the game on Wednesday with the right approach.

"We have got to be positive," said Hughes.

"we have got something from our last three games, admittedly just a point in each game, but there will be a time when all the efforts that we put in will give us that win."
