Aston Villa midfielder Gareth Barry and defender Luke Young could return for tomorrow’s Barclays Premier League derby against West Brom.

Aston Villa midfielder Gareth Barry and defender Luke Young could return for tomorrow’s Barclays Premier League derby against West Brom.

Barry missed the win at Gillingham with a groin problem but scans have shown the England player is suffering from no serious damage, while Villa boss Martin O’Neill hopes Young – who also missed the FA Cup tie with a tight hamstring - will be fit for the weekend.

Defenders Martin Laursen and Carlos Cuellar are making progress from knee and hamstring problems respectively although tomorrow’s Villa Park clash may come too soon for the pair.

Provisional squad: Friedel, Guzan, Reo-Coker, Cuellar, Knight, Davies, Laursen, L Young, Shorey, Milner, Gardner, Petrov, Sidwell, Barry, A Young, Osbourne, Salifou, Agbonlahor, Delfouneso, Harewood.
