More than 200,000 to attend Festival of World Cultures

Tens of thousands of people are expected to visit Dun Laoghaire in south Co Dublin this weekend for the sixth annual Festival of World Cultures.

Tens of thousands of people are expected to visit Dun Laoghaire in south Co Dublin this weekend for the sixth annual Festival of World Cultures.

More than 150 acts from 50 different countries will be performing during the three-day event, which gets underway tonight.

The organisers say they are expecting crowds of up more than 200,000 to attend the feast of music, street theatre, dance, workshops and multicultural food markets.

Audiences can sample features such as intercultural speed dating, trad music from the Sahara Desert, gospel rap, and Tibetan folk dance.
