Gardaí in Dublin and Limerick are investigating two separate shootings that have claimed the life of one man and left another in a serious condition.

The fatal attack happened early yesterday morning in the Finglas area of Dublin, when a 37-year-old was shot dead as he sat in a car in Casement Place.

His body was also doused with petrol and set alight during the incident, which is believed to be drug-related.

In Limerick, meanwhile, a 21-year-old man sustained serious injuries when he was shot in St Mary's Park in the early hours of yesterday.

A 19-year-old man is being questioned in connection with the shooting.
