Fifty-seven people are to lose their jobs in Co Cork after Nestlé announced the closure of its factory in Mallow.
Its chocolate-crumb-making operation in the town is being transferred after the loss of a Canadian contract.
The company has said a review of operations has found lower costs can be achieved by moving production to another plant in Scotland.
Nestlé insists it will make every effort to help employees find replacement jobs and will consult with unions.
