Fifty-seven people are to lose their jobs in Co Cork after Nestlé announced the closure of its factory in Mallow.

Its chocolate-crumb-making operation in the town is being transferred after the loss of a Canadian contract.

Nestlé insists it will make every effort to help employees find replacement jobs and will consult with unions.
