Kelly elected as Sinnott bows out

Independent MEP Kathy Sinnott has tonight been defeated by Labour candidate Alan Kelly for the last European seat in Ireland South.

Independent MEP Kathy Sinnott has tonight been defeated by Labour candidate Alan Kelly for the last European seat in Ireland South.

Kelly took the final seat from Sinnott on the eighth count with a margin of just more then 10,000 votes.

Kelly will now join follow Fianna Fáil candidate Brian Crowley and Fine Gael’s Sean Kelly as one of the three Ireland South representatives to the European Parliament.
