City: No CSKA stadium switch

Manchester City have confirmed their Champions League game with CSKA Moscow will remain at the Khimki Arena.

Manuel Pellegrini’s men are heading to Russia for the Group D contest after the international break, with the game set for Wednesday October 23.

Reports had suggested, though, that owing to problems with the pitch at the 19,000-capacity venue, the clash would be moved to St Petersburg.

CSKA’s match with Viktoria Plzen was switched last week, but in a statement issued on Thursday night, City said UEFA had told them the venue would remain the same.

The Blues need a positive result in Russia having been humbled by Bayern Munich last time out.
