Device thrown into house in Dublin

An investigation is underway following an incident in Dublin in the early hours of this morning in which a device was thrown through the window of a house.

An investigation is underway following an incident in Dublin in the early hours of this morning in which a device was thrown through the window of a house.

It happened at about 12.30am at Lindisfarne Park in Clondalkin.

Two people were in the house at the time of the attack but they escaped injury.

The army bomb disposal team was called to the scene and nearby houses were evacuated.

At about 3am army experts gave the all clear and residents were allowed to return to their homes.

The device has been brought to the Cathal Brugha army barracks in Cabra for examination.
