Sod turned on Aghada power plant

Minister for Enterprise Micheál Martin has today turned the sod on a new power station being built in Co Cork.

Minister for Enterprise Micheál Martin has today turned the sod on a new power station being built in Co Cork.

The €400m plant at Aghada will generate 400 megawatts of electricity for the national grid every year.

Up to 1,000 people will be employed on the station during the construction phase.

The plant will sit alongside an existing power station and is due to be completed in 2009.
