The Democratic Unionist Party has announced plans to seek a British government ruling on the IRA’s ceasefire following last Friday’s abduction attempt in Belfast.

The PSNI claimed the Provisional IRA was responsible for the attempted abduction of dissident republican Bobby Tohill.

DUP leader Ian Paisley said the incident showed that Sinn Féin was wedded to violence and that the IRA had no intention to abandoning violence and criminality.

He said he would be seeking a British government ruling on the IRA ceasefire when the ongoing review of the Good Friday Agreement resumed later today.
