The threat of industrial action at an ESB power plant has been diverted for 24 hours.

Talks aimed at resolving a dispute between unions and management over unpaid wages for 200 Polish ESB workers were adjourned late last night.

Representatives of ESB management, the Technical Engineering and Electrical Union and the Polish sub-contractor ZRE, were involved in the lengthy talks in which little progress was made.

Strike notice was served in the ESB on Monday evening and the TEEU threatened it would begin this morning unless negotiations moved forward.

The talks will resume at 12.30pm this afternoon.
