Running arrangements for Footstepsinthesand are on hold for the moment after Aidan O’Brien reported that he is suffering from another foot problem.
The unbeaten son of Giant’s Causeway has not run since his victory in the English 2000 Guineas at the end of April and was ruled out of trying to follow up in the Irish version after picking up a stone bruise.
He holds entries in the Darley July Cup and Cantor Spreadfair Sussex Stakes but is not in the betting with Coral for either race.
“We were getting him ready to run at York last week and were nearly there until he did what was to be his last piece of work,” O’Brien told the Racing Post yesterday.
“He was sore afterwards on the same foot he bruised at Newmarket.
“We are struggling a bit with him and it is too soon to talk about plans.”
