Nato 'attacked Pakistan army site'

A Nato helicopter has attacked a Pakistani army post on the border with Afghanistan, injuring two soldiers, Pakistan intelligence officials said.

The attack, if confirmed, could further strain relations between the US and Pakistan that were already frayed by the American raid that killed Osama bin Laden on May 2.

The officials say the helicopter attack took place this morning in the Datta Khel area of the North Waziristan tribal region.

Pakistani troops responded with machine gun fire and deployed two helicopters over the post, but the Nato helicopter had already left.

Nato did not immediately comment on the reported incident.
