Fine Gael has said the Government now has "no choice but to spell out the exact cost of the various options for Anglo Irish Bank".
Finance spokesman, Michael Noonan says the losses from the bank are "horrific".
The State-owned bank today reported the worst six-month losses in Irish corporate history of €8.2bn.
It is nearly double what most had expected and beats the bank's own previous record.
The Finance Minister Brian Lenihan has today pledged to bring closure to the cost to the taxpayer of Anglo Irish Bank within weeks.
However, Mr Noonan says it may be "too little, too late".
