The Green Party has voted to introduce legislation to ban corporate donations to political parties by next year.
Delegates at the party's national conference in Waterford have also accepted a motion which calls for an end to the compulsory teaching of religion in primary schools.
Earlier the party chairman Dan Boyle urged Green party members concerned about the party's performance in government to keep their resolve.
But he said the party would have to work harder to ensure that the people responsible for the economic collapse are brought to account.
