A teenager arrested along with two men for having a shot-gun in their possession at a pub car park, is to face trial in the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

Judge Ann Ryan said held that the case was too serious to be dealt with in the Children’s Court.

The north Dublin 17-year-old boy has been charged under the Firearms Act for possession of a double barrel shot-gun at the car park of Campion’s Public House, in Coolock, in Dublin, on July 4 last.

Garda Niamh Shelley of the Organised Crime Unit said it was alleged that "the accused and two others were found in the car, and there was a double barrel shotgun found in the back when it was searched".

The teen, who is on bail, was served with the book of evidence in the case and Judge Ryan ordered his return for trial to the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

The teen has been ordered to obey curfew to be in his home between the hours of 11pm and 7am daily.

Two adult males have also been charged in connection with the same alleged incident.

Judge Ryan notified the teenager, who was accompanied to court by his parents, that if he intended to rely on alibi evidence he must give the State notice within 14 days.

She granted legal aid to the boy for the assignment of junior and senior counsel to represent him given the nature of the offence which carries a mandatory sentence.
