Bohemians 0 Sligo Rovers 1
Former Bohemian Jason McGuinness struck for the only goal of the game as Sligo Rovers booked their place in a third successive FAI Ford Cup final.
Paul Cook’s side will meet the winners of tonight’s replay between St. Patrick’s Athletic and Shelbourne at the Aviva Stadium on November 6.
Central defender McGuinness struck to give Sligo their deserved win on 73 minutes. Skipper Richie Ryan put over a cross to the back post and the unmarked McGuinness swept the ball home.
Sligo enjoyed all the possession in the first half as suspension and injury hit Bohs defended stoutly.
The main talking points in the opening period centred on referee Damien Hancock who refused Sligo a penalty and then disallowed a goal.
Bohs defender Ger O’Brien certainly appeared to handle Alan Keane’s flick inside the area on eight minutes, but Hancock waved away Sligo’s spot kick claims.
If they got that wrong, the match officials got the second decision right when John Russell was clearly offside when he touched home Aaron Greene’s cross on 27 minutes and the “goal” was not allowed.
