Irish Cancer Society launches Daffodil Day

One in three Irish people will be diagnosed with cancer - giving Ireland one of the highest cancer rate in the world.

One in three Irish people will be diagnosed with cancer - giving Ireland one of the highest cancer rate in the world.

This is just one of a number of statistics being released today by the Irish Cancer Society as it launches Daffodil Day - which is being held this year on March 25.

The organisation estimates that by 2020, 40,000 new cancer cases will be diagnosed.

It is also reporting a major increase in the number of people contacting it for help.
