Gardaí in Co Offaly are appealing for witnesses after a 19-year-old was killed in a crash at Geashill this afternoon.

Gardaí in Co Offaly are appealing for witnesses after a 19-year-old was killed in a crash at Geashill this afternoon.

The two car collision happened at around 1.30pm on the Tullamore to Portarlington Road.

The young man who died in the crash was the driver of one of the cars, a passenger in the same car was taken to Midlands Regional Hospital.

The male driver of the second car was also taken to hospital for treatment on his injuries.

Garda Forensic Collision investigators are at the scene and the coroner has been notified.

The road is currently closed between Geashill and Clonygowan - local traffic diversions are in place.
