Gauvain will be given the chance to confirm his recent Cheltenham success was no fluke by lining up in the Tingle Creek at Sandown on December 4.
The eight-year-old made a spectacular return from a 19-month spell on the sidelines by claiming the scalps of Forpadydeplasterer and Tataniano in last weekend’s Sinbad Testimonial 2010/2011 Chase.
Trainer Nick Williams was surprised by that performance, but now wants to see if he can produce another vintage display by stepping him up to Grade One company.
“He’s come out of the race absolutely fine and he’ll go for the Tingle Creek,” said Williams.
“I was very surprised he won the other day but he’s got to have another go at Sandown and then we can make a plan for the rest of the season.”
