Four million cigarettes have been seized by customs officers in Co Laois.

Four million cigarettes have been seized by customs officers in Co Laois.

The cigarettes were in a container that had earlier arrived in Dublin Port.

The seizure has a potential retail value of €1.7m and represents a potential loss to the exchequer of €1.3m.

Four people have been questioned by gardaí and a file is being prepared for the DPP.
