The Unmarried and Separated Fathers of Ireland group is due to begin a 24-hour fast outside Mountjoy Prison in Dublin today.

The Unmarried and Separated Fathers of Ireland group is due to begin a 24-hour fast outside Mountjoy Prison in Dublin today.

The protest is a solidarity action in support of a man who was jailed for 60 days on Monday for falling behind on his maintenance payments to his estranged wife.

The man, who said he could not afford the payments, has been on hunger strike in prison since Tuesday.
