Monaghan progress at Donegal's expense

Donegal 0-15 Monaghan 0-16

Paul Finlay was back with a bang as his seven-point haul helped Monaghan beat Donegal in the All-Ireland qualifiers for the second year running.

Finlay, who was banned for last week's win over Derry, was on form as the Farney men squeezed into the third round.

Rory Kavanagh's injury-time point had the sides level at 0-08 apiece after a competitive first half.

But four successive points on the resumption, including two from Rory Woods, proved crucial for Monaghan. Teenager Michael Murphy (0-05) top-scored for Donegal.
