Northern Ireland has been hit with job losses announced by retailer Littlewoods.

Five Index catalogue stores in Belfast, Derry and Newry are to shut.

The chains are being axed with the loss of more than 3,000 jobs throughout the UK.

Some are being bought by Argos, including branches in Craigavon, Co Armagh, and central Belfast.
