A 32-year-old man has appeared in court in Limerick accused of murdering another man in the city last week.

A 32-year-old man has appeared in court in Limerick accused of murdering another man in the city last week.

Gerard Manning of Upper Gerald Griffin Street, is accused of killing Martin Purcell, whose body was found at a flat at Wickham Street last Friday morning.

The 54-year-old father-of-two died after being stabbed multiple times.

Mr Manning, who was arrested on Sunday afternoon, was remanded in custody for a week.
