Tulisa bemoans weather as heavens open at V

X Factor judge Tulisa Contostavlos bemoaned the “bloody British weather” as the heavens opened during her V Festival performance.

The singer, who returned to screens last night in the TV talent contest, appeared on the main stage at Hylands Park in Chelmsford, Essex just as a heavy rain shower began to fall.

The N-Dubz singer wore a pink short-sleeved jacket, polka dot corset and patterned trousers as she performed solo material, including her new single Live It Up.

As lightning struck, Tulisa – who played the split-site’s sister venue in Weston Park, Staffordshire on Saturday – told fans: “Look at this bloody British weather.”

The sun returned by the end of Tulisa’s set, however, as revellers enjoyed a second day of music at the Virgin Media-sponsored festival.

Also performing at the event, now in its 17th year, are Sir Tom Jones, Happy Mondays and Snow Patrol. Las Vegas headlining band The Killers will close the festival at Chelmsford, while the newly reformed Stone Roses top the bill in Staffordshire.

Singer and rapper Nicki Minaj had been set to headline the 4Music stage, but pulled out at the last minute after suffering from “vocal chord issues”.

Stars attending the event include One Direction heartthrobs Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne, minus bandmate Zayn Malik. The What Makes You Beautiful boyband have been staying in a special tent in Hylands Park designed to resemble a London Underground train.

Leigh Francis, better known as his comedy creation Keith Lemon, appeared to be attempting to keep a low-profile ahead of Monday night’s premiere of Keith Lemon: The Film. The funnyman wore a fake beard as he socialised in the Louder Lounge VIP area in Chelmsford.
