Mobile phone giant Vodafone today said it was buying Singlepoint, the mobile phone services operation owned by entrepreneur John Caudwell, for £405m (€574.8m).
The Newbury-based mobile phone group said its UK arm Vodafone UK had agreed to acquire Singlepoint (4U), a wholly owned subsidiary of the privately owned Caudwell Group, which owns mobile phone retailer Phones4U.
Singlepoint was founded in 1993 by John and Brian Caudwell and is the largest and fastest growing independent mobile phone service provider in the UK, with more than 1,900 staff and 1.9 million contract customers.
