Kildare North elects FF minister on first count

The Kildare North constituency has elected Fianna Fáil's Aine Brady after the first count.

The Kildare North constituency has elected Fianna Fáil's Aine Brady after the first count.

With the quota at 9,039, Ms Brady swept through with 11,245 first preference votes as Labour's Emmet Stagg was the nearest contender with 7,882 votes.

Fianna Fáil could have a second seat as Michael Fitzpatrick was next on 6,606 votes while Fine Gael's Bernard Durkan was on 5,340 votes.

Of the seven candidates elected so far, FF have 6 seats and FG have one.
