At least 20 killed as bus overturns

At least 20 people were killed today when a German tour bus overturned on a road in the rain in south-eastern France.

At least 20 people were killed today when a German tour bus overturned on a road in the rain in south-eastern France.

Another 40 passengers were injured, 24 of them seriously, said Marie Folch-Poblet, an official with the Rhone prefectural office.

The bus, registered in Germany, belonged to the Tiger Reisen company.

The accident north of the city of Lyon happened at 5am when the bus ran off the road and turned over.

The road was cut off to traffic as ambulances, rescue workers and firefighters went to the bus. The injured were taken to hospitals.
