Cork TD Simon Coveney today said that he would be supporting the motion of no confidence in John Bruton's leadership later today.

Speaking of his decision not to support the leadership of John Bruton the Fine Gael Cork TD said, "This has been a very difficult decision for me and for that reason it has taken me some time to be sure that I am making the right decision.

I have a very strong personal loyalty and admiration for John Bruton as a leader and as a person.

However, I have been confronted with an overwhelming desire for change among my constituents and party members. Young people in particular feel that it is time for change".
