Cork comedian Graham Norton has won the battle of the TV presenters after scooping a Royal Television Society award.

Cork comedian Graham Norton has won the battle of the TV presenters after scooping a Royal Television Society award.

He fought off competition from Davina McCall and Chris Tarrant.

McCall, whose Big Brother show scooped two awards, said she was not disappointed to miss out on the presenter award.

Norton said he was delighted to have won the presenter award.

The talk show host cited pop stars Cher, Madonna and Shirley Bassey as guests he would like on the show.

He added: "I asked Vinnie Jones but he said no."
