The Police Service of Northern Ireland is launching a new recruitment campaign, which will not be restricted to the 50-50 Catholic-Protestant balance.

The force is looking for 1,500 part-time officers.

Recruitment is being held back by the 50-50 rule because not enough Catholics have applied to join, meaning Protestants have had to wait for training.
