A woman is due to appear before a special sitting of the courts today in connection with a drugs seizure in Co Galway.

A woman is due to appear before a special sitting of the courts today in connection with a drugs seizure in Co Galway.

€42,000 worth of cannabis plants were seized following a number of planned searches of premises in the Maam area.

The searches yesterday morning were part of an ongoing operation into the illegal sale and supply of controlled drugs in the Galway region.

Gardaí from Maam and Clifden assisted by the regional support unit seized cannabis with a value of €42,500.

A 29-year-old woman was arrested at scene and taken to Clifden garda station where she was detained Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

She is due to appear before a special sitting of Galway district court this morning.
