Water charge protestors confront Taoiseach

The Taoiseach has been confronted by water charge protesters at the opening of a Day hospital in Dublin.

Up to 20 demonstrators surrounded his car as he attempted to leave St Joseph’s in Raheny, with many calling him a "traitor".

One protester has been arrested after a scuffle with Gardaí.

Water charge protesters surrounded the Taoiseach as he attempted to get into his car after the official opening.

It is understood the demonstrators had moved to the hospital after blocking contractors from installing water meters in a nearby estate.

Enda Kenny stopped to speak some of the protesters, many of whom called him a traitor and called for his resignation.

The group walked around his car as it left the hospital campus, and one demonstrator was arrested in a minor scuffle with Gardaí.
