Visitor numbers up to 2.3 million in third quarter

Over 2.26 million visitors came to Ireland in between July and September.

The figure was up from 2.1 million on the same quarter in 2012.

The number of nights spent in Ireland by overseas travellers rose by 8.7% in the quarter, to 18.5 million.

And earnings from visitors from abroad increased by almost 16%.

Meanwhile, the number of trips made by Irish residents abroad in the same quarter rose by 1.5%, to 2.033 million.
