Gardaí investigating the murder of Kenneth O’Brien made a further appeal to the public for information today.

More body parts in the Grand Canal this afternoon after members of the public found plastic bags with body parts in them yesterday evening.

The discovery was made at Sallins in Co Kildare, more than a week after some of the remains of Kenneth O'Brien was found in the canal at Ardclough.

Speaking at Leixlip Garda Station today, Superintendent Gerry Wall appealed "for witnesses or anyone with information, particularly those who may have utilised the 5 kilometre walk along the Grand Canal at Sallins, Co Kildare, encompassing the old Odlums mill, on Friday 15th, Saturday 16th January 2016 or on any date thereafter, to contact them at Leixlip Garda Station, 01 666 7800, The Garda Confidential Line 1800 666111 or any Garda Station".

During the appeal, Chief Superintendent John McPolin, Naas Garda Station, commended the investigative work being carried out by local Gardaí and Garda specialist units.

The family and friends of Kenneth O’Brien wish to thank the public for the messages of support that they continue to receive.

Gardaí again asked people returning to their property or premises to check to see if there was anything unusual.

Investigating Gardaí are also keen to speak to anyone who may have observed, seen or had any contact with Kenneth since the early hours of Friday morning when he left Lealand Road, Clondalkin or can assist in tracing his movements.
