Varadkar opens Dublin railway station after three year wait

A new railway station has been opened by Minister for Transport Leo Varadkar today - after a three year wait.

Hansfield Station in Dublin 15 was originally built by developers as part of the M3 Parkway Rail Commuter project development which opened in 2010.

However it did not open at that time, as the developers were not in a position to build the access road.

Iarnród Éireann has now built the access road with the co-operation of Fingal County Council, the National Transport Authority and the developers.

The construction of the road was funded by the National Transport Authority.

The Minister said residents can now take the Dunboyne train from Hansfied into the city, and the days of watching the trains passing Hansfield Station without stopping are thankfully over.
