Unite's public sector representitives recommend new pay deal be rejected

Public sector representatives of trade union Unite have decided to recommend rejection of new Lansdowne Road pay agreement.

At a meeting earlier today, they decided to reject the proposals which were negotiated at the end of May.

Unite say that their workers have paid the price for a crisis not of their making by enduring pay cuts, the pension levy and increased taxes.

They say that the new proposals are completely insufficient to compensate them for losses since 2009.

Balloting on the new Lansdowne Road proposals is due to start next Monday.
