A Co. Tyrone man has pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of his former girlfriend in New York last year.

A Co. Tyrone man has pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of his former girlfriend in New York last year.

24-year-old Gary McGurk with an address in Woodside in Queens faces up to 37 years in prison for killing Michelle Lee.

The forensic investigator with the New York Police Department was found bound and stabbed to death at her apartment in April 2009.

The couple had met while they were studying forensics at a New York college.

McGurk admitted hitting Ms Lee in the head before stabbing her in the neck with a knife.
