Two men have been arrested in connection with a robbery at a service station in Waterford earlier this evening.

Two men have been arrested in connection with a robbery at a service station in Waterford earlier this evening.

The incident happened at around 7.15pm on the Park Road, when two raiders entered the premises and threatened staff and customers.

It is believed the raiders were carrying a knife and fled the scene on foot with a sum of cash.

One male customer was injured and was taken to Waterford Regional Hospital. His injuries are described as non-life threatening.

During a follow up search of an apartment in Waterford city centre, two men in their 20's were arrested and gardaí say a sum of cash was also recovered.

The men are being detained at Tramore Garda station. Gardaí are also appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
