Transport fares go up for ticket holders

Bus, Rail and LUAS Commuters will face higher fares on certain types of tickets from today.

The National Transport Authority sanctioned increases in monthly, annual and tax-saver tickets on public transport services from today.

"While we don't disagree that their financial position is difficult, they should actually be focusing on providing a quality service," said Mark Gleeson of the Rail Users Group.

"Much of the problem is down to human issues and management issues – they're not down to expensive things like trains. They're things that could be sorted out if they focused their minds on it."

Other tickets as well as Leap cards will go up on December 1.
