Teenage girl in serious condition after Mayo road accident

A teenager is in a serious condition in hospital following a crash in Mayo.

The 18-year-old girl was walking on the Castlebar to Claremorris Road - the N60 - at about 5pm yesterday evening when she was struck by a car.

The 83-year-old driver and a young male passenger were taken to hospital as a precaution, but no injuries were reported.

The teenager is being treated at Mayo General Hospital and Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to contact them in Castlebar.
