Teen charged in connection with Limerick house robbery

A 16-year-old was charged today in connection with a robbery in Limerick City during which a man in his sixties had an ear bitten off.

A 16-year-old was charged today in connection with a robbery in Limerick City during which a man in his sixties had an ear bitten off.

The teenager has been charged with robbing the house in St Jude's Avenue on the Ballysimon Road around 3am yesterday morning.

An attempt was also made to set fire to the house.

The victims ear was bitten off during the attack and he later received 26 stitches to his head at the Mid Western Regional Hospital.

The accused was arrested leaving the scene and appeared before a special sitting of Limerick District Court this morning, where he was also charged with a number of other burglaries.

He has been remanded in custody to St Patrick's Institute to appear before Limerick Juvenile Court on Tuesday.
