Taoiseach's addition of senators to banking inquiry 'ridiculous', says Labour TD

A Labour TD has today joined calls urging the Taoiseach to back down from the decision to force a Government majority on the banking inquiry.

Dominic Hannigan says the addition of two Government Senators was "bad politics" and undermines public confidence in the Committee.

Enda Kenny says the move reflects the "will of the people" and criticism of the decision has been "hysterical".

Dominic Hannigan said the Taoiseach must change his stance.

"I think the addition of senators is ridiculous," he said.

"I think it's bad politics and I think that it was unnecessary [and] in effect called the integrity of the committee into question."
