Taoiseach: Economy will top agenda in talks with Burton
Taoiseach Enda Kenny has said that the issue of the economy will top the agenda when he meets with the new Tánaiste on Monday.
Labour elected Joan Burton as its new leader yesterday.
She said that her priorities in office would be to look at low pay and social housing.
Enda Kenny says the Government needs to build on a growing confidence in the country.
Speaking to Tipp FM, he also paid tribute to the outgoing Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore.
"I commend Eamon Gilmore for his leadership of the Labour Party and for the work that he did as Tánaiste," he said.
"When he and I were given a mandate three years ago, our country was genuinely in an economic catastrophic state, and it was very difficult to make some of these decisions that have impacted on the lives of hundreds of thousands of people across the country."
