Talks between Irish Rail and train drivers have broken down at the Labour Relations Commission tonight.
The talks were aimed at resolving the ongoing dispute over pay and conditions.
The NBRU says that there is an unwillingness on the part of Irish Rail to engage with unions on the productivity element of the agreement brokered on the 3rd of September of last year.
General Secretary Dermot O'Leary says that the company continues to take from their members wages: “The unfortunate part of this is that the minister was out two weeks ago requesting both sides to go to the LRC to conclude discussions on this whole issue.
“It’s extraordinary that the request has seemed to have fallen on deaf ears on this occasion.
“Also, it’s a fact, that the company continued to take money from our member’s pay packets.”
