Stormy condiditons leave over 1,000 without power

Over 1,000 ESB customers have been left without power after stormy conditions around the country today.

Outages are being reported in almost every province with Dublin, Donegal and Longford some of the worst affected areas.

High winds earlier are blamed for the loss of supply but Met Eireann's Joanna Donnelly says the weather should improve in the coming days.

"The wind-chill factor will take the temperature down, but the temperatures are lower than normal for the time of year anyway," said Ms Donnelly.

"That is expected to change over the coming days. The extended outlook period looks for a gradual increase in the mean temperature as the days go on. It will only be creeping up to near-normal temperatures by the end of next week."
