The Foreign Affairs Minister is paying tribute to those who died in the Srebrenica Genocide, 20 years after 8,000 Bosnian men and boys were killed by Serb forces in the town.

Charlie Flanagan has called it one of the most appalling atrocities to take place in Europe and said any attempts to minimise or deny the genocide that took place should be condemned.

The massacre has been recognised as genocide by the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia.

Those who died will be remembered in Srebrenica on July 11, where Ireland will be represented by Ambassador Pat Kelly.

Memorial services are being held in a number of countries to commemorate those who died.
