Sinn Féin accused of misleading people over Right 2 change principles

People before Profit has accused Sinn Féin of misleading people over the Right 2 Change principles.

Last week Sinn Féin announced it was signing up to the new political grouping adding that it is a voting pact.

However People before Profit has said while it has signed up to the principals it is not asking supporters to vote for Sinn Féin.

The new political grouping was set up by trade unions to campaign for the abolition of water charges and other austerity measures ahead of the next general election.

Dublin Councillor Bríd Smith explains exactly what the sign-up means.

“It’s not voting pact and that is where Sinn Féin are misleading the public, what it is, is an agreement that those who support these principles will try to help to transfer to each other but that is not just Sinn Féin that is lots and lots of independents and other austerity parties, including ourselves.”
